日本明治八年（1875年）一圓銀幣屬於明治時代的早期貨幣，製造量較小，屬於珍貴錢幣，價位較高。也是仿品較多的幣種，高仿品一般都是用真銀製作。目前真品價格15000左右。

大日本明治八年《1875年》壹圓銀幣直徑38.62mm，厚2.63mm，重27.0克。

日本銀幣中的大名譽品，正面圖案為漢字"一圓"，上方為太陽圖案,周圍以櫻花枝葉環繞，下部圖案為綢帶紮成的同心結，中間有"貿易銀"三個字樣。

背面為圈珠環繞的飛龍戲珠圖案，龍外圈珠，珠外有"大日本·明治八年"和"420·ONEYEN·900"字樣。日本貿易銀僅連續鑄造了三年，發行量大約97575枚。

大日本明治辨偽(日本龍銀辨偽)

大日本明治龍銀,又稱大日本明治龍洋.皆為90%純銀和10%銅合金而成.製作精美,工差分明.傳世頗多,仿品亦多.以下是個人揣摩出來的幾種日本龍洋辨偽(日本龍銀辨偽)方法:

1、許多仿品製造簡陋,用料不實，為降低偽造成本，大部分仿品是用鐵鍍銀，就是用吸鐵石。真的是銀，吸不住，假的是鐵，黏不放。

2、用手去摸一摸，真的感覺有層次(淺雕龍鱗).假的摸起來滑滑的。

3、聽音，真的敲出來當的聲音，稍有迴音。假的是叮的聲音，很輕脆，這乃銀跟鐵基本的不同音。

4、工差及重量也是判別的好方法。龍洋製作嚴謹，工差及重量控制良好.譬如明治三年一圓銀幣(有輪)發行枚數：3.685.049枚重量：26.96G直徑：38.58MM(成份：銀90%、銅10%)決無差錯,假的則稍輕。

5、作工及模具，真的史稱「名之金工」。可見雕工之精細，講求模具細節。三刺龍，淺雕，接桐葉。假的在細微處，多以模糊處理。最容易看出來的地方是外圈的」齒輪」。真的清楚分明，假的模糊，且短，甚至不見。

6、寶光呈色，可以從銀幣所呈現的光澤來判斷真假。真的龍洋歷史上百年，寶光呈現迷人的紫灰色氧化現象，俱原鑄銀光，當然與假的大不同。

7、發行年份，日本從明治三年起才開始正式生產龍洋，所以年份不對一定是假的，治貿易銀也是一圓龍洋,只有在明治八、九、十年三個年份發行。共發行枚數：3.056.638枚。

明治三年開始,日本維新政府為適應大力發展資本主義,開展對外經濟和商品貿易的需要,始鑄面值為「一圓」的貿易銀元,歷時45年,直到大正三年（1914年）止,累計鑄造貿易銀元約兩億枚,日本貿易銀元,共有三種版式，但是以明治三年到明治三十年的銀元最好，成色96.3%--98%。

所以這個時間段的錢幣現在價格最高，一般都是數十萬到百萬，其他時期的錢幣開始大量發行，成色已經達不到以前的要求。當時鑄造最多的版式就是明治七年鑄造的貿易銀元，最少是明治三年，四年，八年，十一年。

明治元年，日本由香港購得全套鑄幣機器（英國人的機器，1866至1868年曾在香港鑄造過香港第一套貨幣），在大阪成立國家造幣廠。明治三年，造幣廠落成，馬上開鑄銀圓，大小幣值分為5錢、10錢、20錢、50錢、1圓5種，將「圓」定為日本的本位貨幣，即實行銀本位制度。

於是明治八年，日本又鑄造了貿易銀。這種貿易銀與舊版相比，成色不變，重量增加，結果又被民間收藏熔鑄，日本再敗一陣（劣幣驅逐良幣的結果）。
